It’s been a busy summer for tennis with the French Open, Wimbledon, the Paris Olympics, and now the US Open capping it all off. As the last Grand Slam of the year set in one of the most vibrant cities in the world, many fans and players consider the US Open to be the most exciting tournament of the year. If you’re one of the lucky ones who get to travel to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, check out this guide to help you make the most of your visit to the 2024 US Open.
Seats and Tickets
Arthur Ashe Stadium is the main venue that hosts the biggest matches of the tournament. The best seats are in the lower sections around the baseline, but the upper sections offer decent views at affordable prices. You’ll feel the electric atmosphere just being in the stadium for a big night match no matter where you sit.
Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand are the other two big stadiums in the complex. They’re much more intimate than Arthur Ashe, so you’ll have a great view from almost any seat.
The outer courts are where you can watch some of the early-round matches, and you’ll see up-and-coming players up close. To watch the matches on the outer grounds, you only need to purchase grounds admission since these courts don’t have assigned seating.
The US Open sells tickets for both day and evening sessions throughout the tournament, so pay attention to those entry times, and some days have special themes, like HBCU Live and Military Appreciation Day.
Transportation
Public transportation is convenient in New York. The easiest way to get to the US Open is by taking the 7 train to Mets-Willets Point Station, and you’ll avoid New York’s notorious traffic. The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is another public transportation option that also takes you to Mets-Willets Point Station.
If you prefer a more direct route, ride-sharing services are the way to go since parking is extremely limited.
Dining
On-site
When you’re at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, you have many dining options, including the US Open’s Food Village. There are many American and international cuisines represented throughout the grounds, and some of the most popular vendors include Pat LaFrieda Meat Co. and its famous filet mignon steak sandwich and Aces for sushi and sashimi. Champions Bar & Grill serves a prime rib burger prepared by Benjamin Steakhouse, and Fuku is bringing back their popular spicy fried chicken sandwich. Korilla BBQ combines Korean and Mexican flavors in their bulgogi burrito. If you’re looking for something to drink, there are several bars on site, including the Grey Goose Bar that serves the Honey Deuce, the US Open’s signature cocktail, as well as the Lavazza Cafe if you need a coffee or latte.
Local Favorites
If you’re going to venture outside of the National Tennis Center, you’ll have plenty of options in Queens, one of the most diverse communities in the world. Head to Corona for authentic Latin American food or Flushing for some of the best Asian cuisine in New York.

What to Bring
Each person can bring one bag onto the grounds, and there is no bag storage available. All bags are subject to search and cannot be larger than 12"W x 12"H x 16"L. You may bring in a metal or plastic reusable water bottle that is 24 oz. or less, so consider bringing water to stay hydrated during New York’s hot and humid summer days. Hats, sunscreen, and fans are also a great idea so you can stay protected in the heat.
Fan Week
This year, Fan Week is bigger and better than ever. It takes place from August 19-25, and it’s free and open to the public, but certain events require paid tickets. Fan Week centers around the US Open Qualifying Tournament, which determines the final 16 players in both the men’s and women’s singles draws. The fun-filled week also includes many other events like a concert by country music star Dierks Bentley, Legends of the Open and Stars of the Open exhibition matches, Marvel character “meet & greets,” and Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.
Amex Perks
As a major sponsor of the US Open, American Express has many perks for their cardholders at the tournament. Card members have access to the American Express Card Member Lounge or the Centurion Lounge. You can check your bag for a discounted fee, and you can get $10 back after you spend $100 at participating merchants. You can even get a free radio that allows you to hear the ESPN broadcast while at the National Tennis Center.

The 2024 US Open is sure to be an unforgettable experience, filled with exciting matches and an incomparable atmosphere. By following these tips, you will have an amazing fan experience whether you’re a first-time attendee or a US Open veteran.
